U.S. singer Lionel Richie reignited after being admitted to a medical center in San Luis, Missouri, last weekend. The decision to go to the hospital was taken voluntarily by precaution after having concluded a presentation at The Muny Amphitheatre in Forest Park.
During Saturday night’s concert, attendees noticed that the “Hello” performer showed signs of exhaustion and fatigue towards the final part of the show.
According to witnesses and reports spread by local media, Richie had to request a chair to his team to perform sitting his emblematic hit “All Night Long” and be able to close the show.
Sources close to the artist’s environment said the medical team is performing various routine examinations, mainly evaluating a light dehydration picture. Although he remained on preventive observation, it was forecast that he could receive the medical notice at the beginning of the week.
Richie himself had addressed the audience minutes before culminating the evening to share that he was dealing with similar problems in the last few weeks of his tour. The singer commented that he had been consuming electrolyte drinks on medical recommendation after suffering episodes of decompensation on the road.
“I went to the doctor and he told me that he was suffering from dehydration,” Richie told the crowd with his usual sense of humor, assuring he was trying to take the necessary care.
This episode is not an isolated fact on the musician’s recent agenda. Last June, he had to abruptly cancel a concert in St. Louis. Paul (Minnesota) after showing dizziness and discomfort in full stage, forcing him to temporarily suspend some dates of his tour before resuming commitments in July.
So far, the artist’s representatives have not issued a statement on the upcoming shows of his tour, although reports indicate that he is stable and in good mood awaiting the high.
