Mexico makes 47 arrests related to drug trafficking “extermination camp”
The property known as Rancho Izaguirre is under investigation following the discovery of various clues related to possible criminal activities
47 people have been detained so far, according to the Mexican Attorney General's Office ( FGR ), allegedly linked to the criminal activities that have been detected at Rancho Izaguirre, a property in the municipality of Teuchitlan, which have been identified by search collectives as potential "extermination camps" linked to drug trafficking.
The prosecutions are reportedly a result of an ongoing analysis that includes more arrest warrants being carried out in accordance with judicial procedures, according to the national institution.
In a press release describing the development of the studies, the Attorney General's Office stated that" so far, 47 people have been arrested, and there are still exceptional arrest permits that are being served. "
Following the discovery of different pieces of evidence relating to potential criminal activity, including bone fragments, clothing, and nuclear evidence, the property, known as Rancho Izaguirre, is being looked into.
A coaching and recruitment centre for criminals
The Attorney General's Office claims that the site was largely used as a training facility for people recruited by legal organizations as a result of the investigations thus far. The location's officials indicated that shooting practice, bodily exercises, and defensive simulations were conducted there. Even an area that had been constructed as a "tactical house" was discovered that would teach support maneuvers, movement, and reaction in real-world situations was located. Additionally, the prosecutor's office noted that there is proof that people were coerced into wearing uniforms or other types of clothing when they first arrive at the location and are suspected of having been forcibly recruited and stripped of their belongings as a result of their integration into the judicial organization. Specialists have located a number of pieces of evidence while processing the house, which are currently being analyzed in particular labs at the Federal Forensic Center as well as regional Jalisco facilities. Authorities have so far reported that the site's thorough control is more than 64 % finished.
Studies and inquiries from cooperatives
Among the bone remains discovered at the site were identified fragments and numerous fragments, but so far only one biological profile, equivalent to a male, has been found.
The tests have been compared to databases of missing person cousins, but so far no convincing recognition has been made.
The prosecution's office stated that the analyses are continued as novel genetic profiles are integrated. The Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco community reported the finding of nearly 1,800 pieces of evidence on the property, including shoes, clothing, and private belongings, in March 2025. The Mexican government acknowledged that the site had been used by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel ( CJNG ), one of the country's most powerful criminal organizations, as a recruitment and training facility following this discovery. Yet, a year after the initial discovery, the collective claimed to still find human remains and clothes in the area. The National Human Rights Commission ( CNDH) responded to these reports by recommending recommendations to address alleged errors made by state authorities when securing the site and handling the evidence appropriately.
In response to the criticism, the Attorney General's Office ( FGR ) argued that the recovered evidence is being analyzed in accordance with scientific protocols and that investigations are continuing with the aim of establishing the victims ' identities, guaranteeing justice for the families of missing persons.
