Nearly one million mini-fridges from the brands Curtis International and Frigidaire have been recalled since the company's announcement last Thursday, according to a statement released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission ( CPSC ) last Thursday.

The agency stated that the reason for the recall was a potential fire hazard because it was discovered that the electric components of the mini-fridges could experience inner short circuits that could result in burns or fires for users. The 6-can power Curtis International EFMIS121 mini-fridge was entirely offered by Target between January 2020 and October 2023, both in-store and online. The company has so far received six studies of fire hazards linked to the use of this solution. However, according to the CPSC, there are about 26 reports of malfunctions, overheating, and fires, which indicates that these situations have caused property damage of up to$ 700,000. The CPSC advises that customers who purchased this design transfer it to the merchant or dispose of it in accordance with local and state laws.
