Three weeks before the assassination of César Gastélum, federal authorities on the capture of one of the suspects involved in the crime.
The detainee, identified as Jesus Alberto “N”, was located in the state of Puebla thanks to intelligence and investigation work.
Gastélum was murdered on August 4 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, while performing a live broadcast for his social media. According to reports released after the attack, two men travelling on a motorcycle approached the influencer and one of them shot him.
The arrest took place during an operation in San Andrés Cholula, Puebla. According to information released by security officials, investigators were assaulted by three armed men during the deployment.
The elements repelled the attack, with a balance of a suspected aggressor dead and two people detained, including Jesus Alberto.
Authorities said they also seized weapons, ammunition and vehicles allegedly related to the events. The investigation continues to determine the involvement of each of the involved and locate the other responsible for the murder.
The case generated special attention because the murder occurred while Gastélum was broadcasting live.
The content creator had hundreds of thousands of followers and was known for publishing material related to topics and characters linked to organized crime.
Authorities are investigating whether their activity on social networks was related to the attack, although a definitive mobile phone has not been publicly established so far.
