A Spanish couple from Ventura County face charges, including one of second-degree murder, for the death of their daughter due to a fentanyl overdose in 2025.
George Salas, 29, and Karina Yáñez, 30, were arrested for the death of their 11-month-old baby Ariya, which occurred in Simi Valley on December 6, 2025.
“An 11-month-old child lost her life because she was allegedly exposed to a lethal amount of this synthetic drug,” District Attorney Erik Nasarenko said. “We have a duty as prosecutors to hold her parents responsible for this completely avoidable and tragic death.” pic.twitter.com/GA9G11BoL5
In a statement, the Ventura County District Prosecutor’s Office that Salas faces a second-degree murder charge, a child abuse charge resulting in death, and an additional drug-related charge.
