After fleeing the United States days before his trial started, a Texas man is still detained in Italy. He is accused of killing his female woman.
For the 2024 death of his wife, Christa Bauer Gilley, he faces a murder fee.
Gilley left the United States in May after being released without parole. He used a fake French passport and other papers, which he was called Lejeune Jean Luc Olivier, to travel to Canada and then arrive in Milan, Italy, according to the authorities.
When the man arrived at the Milan-Malpensa aircraft, he was detained by border security personnel.
Authorities in Texas are currently negotiating with Italian leaders his possible re-entry into the country.
European abduction laws have made the procedure more challenging.
The death sentence has been abolished, and Italy's laws prevent abduction to areas in certain conditions where they could face the death penalty or life imprisonment without the option of conditional release.
Although prosecutors had never requested that word against Gilley, according to data provided in the case, killing does result in the death penalty in Texas.
Judge Peyton Peebles, the trial's leader, claimed he did not realize that the possibility of the death sentence had been discussed.
According to the information provided on the reason," If it were a case of death sentence, it would have arisen many earlier," Peebles said.
Authorities in Texas are negotiating with European officials to try to reach an extradition contract.
Gilliley has questioned the American judiciary and denied killing his wife.
She claimed Bauer was useless and that he had been accused unfairly during an audience in Turin, Italy.
The accused even claimed that the accused fled the country because they were concerned for their lives.
He would have said," I fled to stop them from killing me," according to NBC News.
Therefore, Gilley's defense has a different interpretation of the claim he is facing in Texas.
Gilley would have claimed that when Bauer's death was being investigated, he had returned home and discovered his wife useless.
He had also initially advise that it might be suicide.

Eventually, it was determined that Bauer had strangled himself.
