The case of Lindsay Clancy, the former nurse accused of killing her three children in Massachusetts, ended on Friday without a court ruling, after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict after seven days of deliberations.

According to Reuters, Judge William Sullivan declared the trial void after the jury members remained divided and failed to resolve the case.

Clancy faces charges for the deaths of his sons Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months old, who were found dead in their family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023. The accused declared himself not guilty for lack of criminal responsibility.

The process was marked by a strong dispute over Lindsay Clancy’s mental health.

The defense acknowledged that Clancy caused the death of his children, but argued that at that time he suffered postpartum psychosis and that the medications he took worsened his condition. His attorney, Kevin Reddington, argued that he should not be held criminally responsible.

Prosecutors argued that Clancy planned the murders and that he understood the difference between good and evil when he attacked his children.
