In an emotional gesture of solidarity with her native country, urban artist Karol G announced this Sunday a donation of one million dollars to support the reconstruction of housing and infrastructure affected by the earthquake that occurred last August 10 in Colombia.

The singer paisa gave the news through a live broadcast during her participation in the charity concert “Colombia: voices for life”, held in the Vive Claro Cultural District of Bogotá. The event, which gathered more than 30 artists and thousands of attendees, sought to raise funds for the areas most hit by the seismic emergency.

During her speech, the "Provenza" interpreter expressed the frustration and sadness she felt following the news of the disaster at a distance, but at the same time highlighted the resilient spirit of her compatriots.

“It’s been super hard days to see how our people are going through such a situation. At the same time it has been incredible to see how for moments like these we demonstrate what we are made of the Colombians: love, brotherhood and being able to unite,” she said.

The financial contribution will be channeled formally through the Con Cora Foundation, an organization led by the artist, and will be focused on the attention of vulnerable populations and housing construction. The announcement was formalized during live broadcast by actors Jorge Enrique Abello and Juliette Pardau, raising the total collection of the charity event to more than $3.4 million.

Karol G took advantage of the space to pay tribute to rescuers, medical staff, volunteers and local communities who have worked tirelessly since the day of the disaster. Before performing his emotional song “Miracles”, dedicated to the victims, he left a final message of hope: “To Colombia we raise it together when it is, whatever it is and what it is to do.”
