Katy Perry affirms that her music seeks to unite people and not glorify war as the White House intends to make it seem by using it in its military videos
Singer Katy Perry is upset with the White House for having used, without her authorization, one of her songs as the background of a video in which the US air force bombs Iran.
Recently, the Trump administration used the song “Firework” to set music to the recording of an air attack where a missile is seen destroying an Iranian warship.
Shared on the Tik Tok platform and accompanied by the message: “Iran is warned,” the video has accumulated more than 6 million views and 616,000 “likes.”

"I am deeply outraged to see 'Firework' being used on the White House TikTok account as background music for videos of military strikes. I did not authorize it, I was not asked for it, and I certainly do not condone it," he wrote.
Immediately afterwards, Perry stated that the message of the song in question, by linking it to a war conflict, is completely distorted, which he considers even disrespectful.
"Seeing how a message of self-esteem and personal improvement is used as a weapon to provide a soundtrack to destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song represents. My music seeks to unite people, not glorify war," he stressed.
Katy Perry's annoyance is not an isolated issue, since four months ago, singer Kesha also complained to the White House for having used, in another similar video, the song “Blow,” a musical hit in her repertoire, without her permission.
“This display of blatant disregard for human life and, frankly, this attack on our nervous systems, is the opposite of what I stand for,” he wrote in X.
Far from apologizing, the White House, through its communications director, Steven Cheung, has made it clear that it is not contemplating issuing any apology, as there is no reason to do so.
"All these 'singers' keep falling into the trap. This only gives us more attention and more views for our videos," he also wrote a few days ago on X.
