Marcelo Gallardo will officially begin his first experience as a national team coach on Thursday. The Argentinian will be presented as Ecuador’s new coach at the House of Selection, in Quito, where he will offer his first statements as head of the Tri.
The Ecuadorian Football Federation confirmed that the event will be held at 15:30 hours of Ecuador, that is, at 16:30 ET / 13:30 PT.
Gallardo arrives in the Ecuadorian combined after running for several years at River Plate, in addition to his experiences at National Uruguay and Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia. Its arrival marks the beginning of a new process towards future international commitments.

The official presentation of Marcelo Gallardo will take place on Thursday 17 September at the House of the Selection, located in Quito.
The press conference will begin at 15:30 local time, a schedule corresponding to 16:30 ET / 13:30 PT.
The event will mark Gallardo’s first public contact as Ecuador coach and will allow him to know his first impressions after taking office.
The Argentinian has signed a four-year contract with the goal of the 2028 Copa America and the 2030 World Cup.
After his presentation, the new coach of Ecuador will have to start his work immediately.
One of the first issues will be to define the list of convocated for the upcoming international matches of the Ecuadorian national team.
His first match as a national team coach will be on September 24, when Ecuador will face South Korea in Seoul.
Subsequently, the team will travel to Japan to compete two commitments corresponding to the Asian tour.

Argentina’s debut is scheduled for September 24 against South Korea.
Afterwards, the duel with Japan is scheduled for October 1, while Ecuador will face New Zealand or Panama on October 5, depending on the outcome of the other match.
These matches will be Gallardo’s first opportunities to start implementing his game ideas and observe the footballers who could be part of his project.
Although Gallardo has a broad career as a club coach, Ecuador will be the first national team he will run during his career.
The Argentinian built much of his prestige during his passage to River Plate, where he won numerous titles and led the team in two stages.
Now he will have a different challenge: to build a project with a group of footballers who will have to prepare for the 2028 Copa America and the eliminations towards the 2030 World Cup.
