Santiago Giménez's AC Milan started with a deep cleaning. For the 2026-2027 season, the Rossoneri team will have a new coach on the bench. Massimiliano Allegri was cut from his position as technical director of the club. A new process will begin in Giménez's team.

The top brass of the Italian team began their great cleanup at the club. The bench was not left out of these changes. In addition to Massimiliano Allegri, other members of the coaching staff were removed from the squad. Giorgio Furlani (Executive Director/CEO), Igli Tare (Sports Director) and Geoffrey Moncada (Technical Director/Scouting Area) also left AC Milan.

“Each of them has our gratitude for the work done and the dedication shown during their time at the club,” the club communicated upon the departure of these pieces from the process.

Massimiliano Allegri was not the coach who promoted the signing of Santiago Giménez to Milan. But Allegri was patient and gave the Mexican forward several opportunities. Even though there was talk of “Bebote” leaving, Allegri granted the Mexican several minutes.

The balance of Massimiliano Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri took over the reins of AC Milan in July 2025. The Livorno-born coach coached 42 games on the Rossoneri team's bench. Allegri left a balance of 22 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses.

Massimiliano Allegri's second cycle at AC Milan ends without any titles in his cabinet. In the first process (between 2010 and 2014), Allegri managed to win a Serie A and an Italian Super Cup.

But this season was very disappointing for the club. AC Milan could not get past the round of 16 of the Italian Cup. The Milan team fell against Lazio and said goodbye to that title option.

For Serie A the panorama did not change. AC Milan only scored 70 points. The Rossoneri team was 17 points behind the champion, Inter Milan. The Milanistas were below other clubs such as Napoli, Roma and Como. Milan will have to settle for playing the UEFA Europa League in the 2026-2027 season.
