The Uruguayan defense will leave the Club America after six and a half seasons to begin his first adventure in European football with the Celta de Vigo.
The Spanish team has confirmed the agreement with the Águilas for the transfer of the 27-year-old, who will be incorporated to the team led by Claudio Giráldez until June 2030, although his arrival is still conditioned to overcome medical recognition, despite this the Spanish team has already made the official announcement.
The transfer represents an important step in the race for Cáceres, who has become one of America’s most used defenses over the past few years and now has the opportunity to compete in LaLiga.

Cáceres arrived in America in January 2020 from Liverpool Montevideo.During his passage through Mexican football, the central managed to consolidate as an important piece of the blue cream defense.
The Uruguayan played more than 200 official matches with the Coapa team and formed part of one of the most successful stages in the club’s recent history.
With America, Cáceres won three MX League titles in a row, as well as a Champions Cup and a Champions Cup.
His departure occurs after more than six years in which the defender passed from being a bet from Uruguay football to becoming one of the players with greater experience within the blaugrana team.
Now, the next chapter of his career will be in Spain.
The Celta de Vigo highlighted the qualities that led the club to close the contract of the Uruguayan defender.
“In Mexico, he established himself as one of the most reliable defenses of the championship thanks to his anticipation, his ability to defend wide spaces and his clean ball output,” Celta said.
The Galician team considers that these features can help solve some of the problems that their defense has shown during the start of the season.
The club itself also highlighted Cáceres’ journey and their experience in the most demanding matches.
“At his 27 years, Cáceres arrives in full competitive maturity and with the shooting of who has been fighting for titles for years, a profile that will bring solidity and experience to Claudio Giráldez’s race in a demanding season, with the team competing in three competitions,” the Galician club said in a press release.
The Uruguayan central will now have the challenge of quickly adapting to Spanish football and competing for a place in the defense of the Celta.
The Celta de Vigo did not officially reveal the amount of the transfer agreed with America.
However, according to information published by Spanish media, the transaction could be between $4.6 million and $5.7 million, approximately.
The figure turns the transfer into a relevant operation for the Spanish team, which found in Cáceres a defender with international experience and several years of competition at the highest level in Mexico.
The deal envisages that the player will remain linked to Celta until June 2030.
The new player of the Celta does not come to Europe only with the experience accumulated in America.
Cáceres has been an absolute international with Uruguay since 2022 and has been part of important tournaments with the South American national team.
The defender played the 2024 America Cup and was also considered by Uruguay for the 2026 World Cup, adding experience on international scenes before jumping to European football.
His formation began at Liverpool Montevideo, a club with which he debuted as a professional in 2017.Three years later, in January 2020, he gave the way to Mexican football to join America.
Now, at the age of 27, Cáceres embarks on his first adventure in Europe.
The arrival of Uruguay adds to an important renewal of the Celta plant for this season.
Cáceres became the sixth summer reinforcement of the Vigo team, after Aleix Febas, Javi Galán, Abdoulaye Faye, Couhaib Driouech and Altay Bayındır.
The defender also arrives at a time when the team needs to find greater stability in their defensive zone, after showing some doubts during the first days of LaLiga.
For Cáceres, the challenge will be to show that his accumulated experience in America and with Uruguay can quickly move to Spanish football.
