Florida authorities are investigating the death of Kellie Melinda Williams, a 31-year-old American Airlines cabin crew, whose body was found on a beach in the south of the state with injuries consistent with the impact of a boat.

Williams' body was located Wednesday night on the shore of Hollywood Beach by two fishermen who were in the area, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reported, according to CBS Miami.

According to authorities, the victim had injuries consistent with a collision with a boat. Investigators later determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

“Based on the investigation, it appears that the deceased was snorkeling or diving in the area of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park on June 3,” authorities said in a statement cited by local media.

The FWC is working jointly with Hollywood detectives to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

No information about the vessel involved

So far, authorities have not revealed details about the boat allegedly involved in the incident or about the people who may be on board.

No charges have been filed in connection with the case.

A witness reported that he watched the body being pulled from the water before the victim's identity was confirmed.

"Two fishermen were fishing right in front of the beach. From my window I saw them pulling something and then dragging it to the shore. Then it turned out to be the body of a woman," Emilio Benitez told local media.

Shock among family and colleagues

Williams' parents described their daughter as experienced in water activities and remembered her as a woman well liked by those who knew her.

The news also caused shock among his co-workers.

The Miami Association of Professional Flight Attendants reported his death through a post on social media.

"It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our colleague and fellow Miami flight attendant, Kellie Williams. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time," the organization said.

For its part, American Airlines mourned the death of its employee.
