Starting this Thursday, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, the Los Angeles cultural center dedicated to Latin culture, will be the official headquarters of the representation of the Government of Mexico in Los Angeles during the Soccer World Cup.

Casa México Los Angeles 2026 will offer Angelenos a dynamic, free public program that will include live screenings of the games, music, gastronomy, art exhibitions and much more.

On Wednesday afternoon, one day before Mexico's debut against South Africa at the Azteca Stadium, the plaza was already being transformed to receive all soccer fans during the most important sporting event in the world.

“Casa México Los Ángeles 2026 will be a meeting space to proudly celebrate our roots, support the Mexican national team and share the cultural wealth of our country with all the communities of Southern California,” said the Consul General of Mexico in Los Angeles, Carlos González Gutiérrez. “We want every visitor to feel at home and experience a true celebration of unity.”

It is expected to receive more than 3,000 visitors, and the main attraction of Casa México will be the parties to watch live the three confirmed matches of the Mexican team: against South Africa on June 11, against South Korea on June 18 and on June 24 against the Czech Republic.

In addition, throughout the tournament there will also be other events to watch matches, especially those of the Latin American teams.

There will also be family-friendly and community-focused events such as salsa nights, film screenings, and a community festival, among others to be announced soon.

Casa México Los Ángeles 2026, conceived as a safe, familiar and welcoming space for all ages, will be held from June 11 to July 19, will offer free admission to all activities and will take place in a central and easily accessible location. LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, located just steps from Union Station in the heart of downtown Los Angeles in the El Pueblo area, will serve as a gathering space not only for Latino communities, but also for all Angelenos and visitors who wish to experience the spirit of the World Cup through culture and community.

According to the consulate, the events go beyond the game, as it is an attempt to provide the community with a space where they can celebrate and come together after the difficult year they have had due to the ICE raids.

“We are delighted to welcome Casa México Los Ángeles 2026 to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes at a time when our community needs spaces of joy, belonging and cultural pride more than ever,” said Leticia Rhi Buckley, executive director of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, last month. "Football is a universal language that unites people across borders and generations, and this collaboration reflects that spirit. LA Plaza is at the heart of our city's cultural history, making it an ideal location for a moment that unites us in both our heritage and our hope."

Part of the installations that you can visit include “Weaving Networks: Uniting Communities through Art and Soccer,” by artist Betsabeé Romero.

The project interweaves football, migration and social fabric in a tribute to player number twelve. It also recognizes the migrant communities that transformed soccer by integrating it into new languages, emotions and memories, until it became part of the cultural landscape of the United States and Canada. In the context of the 2026 World Cup, sport is understood as a shared territory of identity, belonging and movement.

Twenty goals bring together grids inspired by ancient and contemporary Mesoamerican ball players, intertwined with networks woven by migrant communities and artists between Mexico City and Canada. Each goal is a meeting point where memories, territories and the links that these networks have woven converge.

Another exhibition will be “Goles de Pintura” by Jazzamoart, originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, who has developed an artistic career marked by gestural, energetic and colorful painting, in which rhythm, movement and emotion occupy a central place. In Goles de Pintura, the artist explores the link between football and art as collective expressions of passion, identity and human encounter. Since 1986, Jazzamoart has incorporated the football universe in different exhibitions presented in museums and galleries, building a visual language in which the ball, the game and the energy of the field are transformed into pictorial elements full of dynamism and vitality.

To attend the community event, you will need to reserve your spot at Casa México 2026, as space is limited. The plaza also reminds the public that no alcoholic beverages, chairs or food are allowed, and that you will only be able to bring small pockets to guarantee your entry.

“Living the World Cup experience in Los Angeles watching El Tri is unique, and one does not need to be able to pay for tickets, because the most special thing is going to these community events and celebrating the game with others,” said Gutiérrez. “It is where we live not only with other Mexicans, but with people who go to other teams, and together we experience the excitement of watching our teams compete.”
