A criminal investigation would be underway after alleged “irregularities” were detected in approximately 11,000 written exams in the process to obtain a driver's license.
The director of the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Steve Gordon, informed in a letter to state legislators about the possible criminal investigation to determine if any illegal action was committed in the procedures for issuing the document.
Gordon sent the letter to California Senate Transportation Committee Chairman Dave Cortese following criticism from him and the committee's Republican vice chairman, Senator Tony Strickland, who said the agency did not clear up concerns about testing issues.
