Pilot program to make California roads safer
The California Department of Motor Vehicles and Highway Patrol seek to remove drivers who exceed 100 miles per hour from highways
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced a pilot program on Monday to remove drivers who exceed 100 miles per hour from the state's highways.
The program, called “FAST Actions Referred” automatically refers violators to the DMV’s Division of Highway Safety. The Division of Safety will review the incident and the driver’s record to determine if immediate action, such as suspension or revocation of the driver’s license, is warranted. The DMV’s decision is independent of any legal action related to the citation and is not contingent upon a conviction.
