Authorities arrested 21 protesters and 4 officers were injured in a protest outside an ICE detention center in a Chicago suburb
On Friday, protests erupted around an immigration and customs enforcement ( ICE ) facility outside of Chicago, which immigrant rights activists have criticized as being used as a detention facility. The result was a total of 21 arrests and four injuries for the officers.

After a national judge determined that officials violated a 2022 out-of-court arrangement regarding illegal arrests in and around Chicago, Westerfield added that she wanted to visit some of the hundreds of people who have been ordered released from federal detention facilities in the area.
