President Donald Trump plans to display one of the old Air Force Ones in his library and remains silent about the fate that awaits the impressive aircraft that was gifted to him by the Qatari royal family, which he refurbished for his work trips.
During a working tour of Qatar in May last year, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad presented him with a luxurious Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet owned by the royal family worth around $400 million.
The argument for this gift was so that it could replace Air Force One for the remainder of his term.
Almost two months later, the Pentagon accepted the donation of the plane from the Qatari royal family so that, after making several modifications, it could be used by Trump on his work trips.
Subsequently, the White House announced that the idea was being considered that, at the end of the New York magnate's term, the luxurious Boeing 747 donated by Qatar and transformed into Air Force One, would be transferred to the presidential library that he intends to build in Miami, Florida.
However, Eric Trump, son of the current president of the nation, told the NBC News television network through a text message that said plan was no longer in place.
"No. That is not the plan at the moment for Miami," he wrote.
With this, the 80-year-old Republican's scion corroborated another previous statement he had issued for the Palm Beach Post newspaper, where he mentioned an old and retired Air Force One plane as the object to be exhibited in the building where tribute will be paid to Donald Trump's performance during the two periods in which he governed the country.
Faced with the sudden change of plans of the conservative politician, his detractors have begun to question the fate that awaits the colossal aircraft recently presented and in which he refused to travel back from Turkey after attending the summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The point is that a lot of money and several months of work were invested to prepare the plane for strict safety and communication characteristics.
So far, neither the White House nor Trump have commented on the matter.
