Rivian is addressing a critical safety concern with the R2, a defect identified during production that necessitates a revision, despite impacting only a limited number of units. This move comes as the company aims to increase deliveries of its electric SUV.

Audi has unveiled exclusive images of its RS 5 model, specifically tailored for the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix.

A limited recall affecting 14 vehicles from the 2027 model year has been initiated due to a potential issue that may result in a sudden loss of power while the vehicle is in operation. This marks the second safety review involving the R2 model within a month.

General Motors has identified an oil leak issue in the 2027 Corvette, a problem that the company is already aware of and has a solution to address.

A safety concern has been identified in certain vehicles due to a potential defect in the high-voltage battery system. The issue specifically affects a collector bar bearing, where an improperly secured screw may compromise the electrical connection, leading to a loss of traction and potentially compromising vehicle stability.

A safety recall notice has been filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under case number 26V-625. Notably, Rivian has reported no associated accidents, injuries or customer complaints related to this issue.

A probe into the matter commenced in September after a worker discovered a firmware that failed to meet the necessary standards of security, despite undergoing an automated quality control process.

Rivian conducted a review of its production data, pinpointing 14 vehicles that may have been impacted by a potential issue. In response, the company adjusted its production schedule to allow for further investigation into the matter and to ensure that all units meet the required standards.

The company has confirmed that all affected vehicles are currently being held at their service centers, with their owners having been personally notified.

A forthcoming maintenance operation will involve inspecting the electrical connection, rectifying the strap and replacing any damaged components as needed. This repair does not necessitate a remote software update, unlike the previous service visit.

Letters notifying vehicle owners are slated for delivery on November 28, 2026. Concurrently, the vehicle identification numbers (VINs) associated with the recall will be accessible on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) online portal.

Following a previous campaign addressing a reverse camera failure, a total of 2,481 R2 units were included in a broader review of Rivian vehicles. The issue was resolved through a software update.

Initial shipments of the R2 commenced in June, with the Performance Launch Package being the first to market, priced at $57,990.

Rivian reported a significant production milestone in the third quarter, with the company manufacturing 19,751 vehicles and successfully delivering 19,248 of those units.
