Walmart, the largest retail chain in the United States, and Sam's Club, formerly known as the Price Club chain, have introduced a new membership program. The initiative aims to retain existing customers while also attracting new consumers, particularly in response to rising prices and adjusted household budgets.

Walmart CEO John Furner stated that the company is enhancing the value of its membership program by offering customers more benefits for their annual fee of $120.

Walmart's bundled subscription service, Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus, will incur an annual fee of $120. This represents a $100 reduction in savings compared to purchasing individual memberships at each retailer.

Subscribers to this rate who have existing accounts in both stores can seamlessly link them to unlock exclusive discounts. Furthermore, they will gain access to Sam's Club locations, streaming services through Peacock or Paramount+, complimentary shipping, a 2% cash refund on eligible purchases from Sam's Club, and fuel savings benefits.

The two companies have confirmed that their employees will be eligible for joint membership benefits as part of their labor agreements.

Walmart is implementing strategic changes and forging alliances as it aims to boost sales following a significant decline attributed to shifting consumer habits driven by rising prices. The retail chain has stated that the costs associated with its membership model are not anticipated to impact its third-quarter financial results.
