In Uruapan, Michoacan, national authorities detained Yesenia" N," the private secretary of Mayor Grecia Quiroz Garcia, for her alleged involvement in the murder of former president Carlos Manzo Rodriguez, which took place in November of that year.

In a case that is emerging as one of the main areas of inquiry in the investigation into the mayor's murder, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection ( SSPC ) led the arrest in the city center.

The arrest is connected to the theory that Manzo's former private secretary gave sensitive information about the president's routine and activities to people of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, who were identified as the crime's perpetrators, according to data obtained from the regular journal Proceso.

Using the messages contained in the case file, the state prosecutor's office had previously made a warning about the potential presence of a figure close to the mayor during past hearings.

Yesenia joined Carlos Manzo's group in September 2024 as his personal secretary, according to the paper El Financiero, and held that position until Grecia Quiroz was elected president in the wake of her husband's murder.

The official's appearance with the governor at the 2026 Three Kings Festival in Uruapan was shared on social media just two days prior to her arrest, confirming that she had continued to be a part of the provincial government.

Yesenia even shared condolences about Manzo's death, calling the former governor her "leader and friend" and saying that the city was in mourning.

Omar Garcia Harfuch, the SSPC's mind, announced during Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum's day press conference that there was enough details to proceed with the arrests of the president of Uruapan hours before Yesenia's imprisonment.

Yet, neither the Michoacan Attorney General's Office nor provincial authorities have publicly disclosed the specific allegations brought against the standard or the level of engagement that she faces.
