A Hispanic deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) was sued by a family for allegedly threatening a group of young people at gunpoint over a car alarm.
Officer Max Fernandez, a member of the LASD precinct in Compton, was sued by a family accusing him of violating civil rights, alleging that the sheriff held two teenagers at gunpoint in East Los Angeles.
The lawsuit, against both Fernández and the LASD, centers on an incident that occurred in 2024 at the family's home.
