A primary school teacher in Bend, Oregon, who was shot by a teenager last week described the incident, stating that she attempted to secure the classroom by closing the door but was unable to do so in time, as the attacker had already entered the room.

A student at Silver Rail Primary School reported being shot during an incident that occurred on Thursday.

Drury described the severity of his injuries in a statement, recalling that after being shot, he observed his left hand was nearly severed and his other arm sustained significant damage.

The woman, who was a victim of the attack, explained that she was unable to defend herself or protect others, leading her to feign death in an attempt to avoid further harm.

Drury expressed profound sorrow and devastation over the unimaginable events that transpired in the classroom, echoing the sentiments of many in the community who have been impacted by this tragedy.

The speaker expressed his condolences to those affected by the incident, including the wounded, the families of the victims, the school community, and the people of Bend. He also acknowledged the outpouring of kindness and support from the community as they navigate the challenging days ahead.

A teacher and three students, aged 5, 8, and 11, lost their lives in a violent attack that commenced around 1 p.m., according to official statements.

A 16-year-old attacker was fatally shot by a passenger who intervened after witnessing him shoot at a truck and enter a school, according to police. The passenger subsequently apprehended the attacker, with assistance from another teacher who managed to wrestle the gun away from him.

Law enforcement officials are examining whether the assailant had access to online content linked to "Nihilist Violent Extremism" (NVE) as part of their ongoing investigation.

Bend police officials confirmed on Wednesday that the firearm in question was lawfully acquired.

According to law enforcement, the firearm in question was a Maverick model, specifically a 12-gauge shotgun, and the assailant employed a combination of makeshift projectiles, including curtains and wooden beams, in addition to live ammunition.

According to information provided by two senior police officials, the gunman's mother reportedly acquired the firearm in August, shortly before his birthday.

Bend police detectives are actively pursuing the investigation into the shooting incident. As part of their efforts, they have served registration orders at the suspect's residence and also obtained access to his electronic devices and social media profiles across multiple platforms.

The police department emphasized that ongoing investigative efforts require patience and time to yield results.
