Duane “Keefe D” Davis, former leader of the street gang South Side Compton Crips, was found guilty of the first-degree murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, occurring in September 1996 and considered one of the most controversial cases within the music industry.
It was during the hearing held on August 31 at the court in Las Vegas that the accused received a verdict of guilt for the crime of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, with the intention of promoting, promoting or collaborating with the activities of a criminal organization.
During the trial, Prosecutor Duane “Keefe D” Davis was the intellectual author of the attack on the rapper and provided the weapon that ended up killing him six days after the incident. In this sense, the shooter would have been Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, Davis’s nephew.
To support this premise, the Prosecutor’s Office presented approximately two dozen witnesses, whose testimonies were heard by the jury members.
Davis was arrested and formally charged in 2023, almost 27 years after the murder of Tupac Shakur. This occurred after the authorities reactivated the investigation and made a record in a home related to the accused.
With the verdict released on August 31, it was spoken about a sentence that envisages a possible maximum life imprisonment.
The decision of the Las Vegas jury marks the first conviction directly related to the murder of the musician, occurred in September 1996, while he was in Las Vegas to attend a boxing fight between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon.
