The Metropolitan Museum of Art ( MET ) canceled the spring exhibition, which was dedicated to the work of British designer John Galliano, in a dramatic turn for one of the medial events in the fashion industry.

The choice leaves the renowned Costume Institute event without a design or established dress code a few months apart from its business, which is motivated by the growing public outcry against the writer's anti-Semitic comments.

Galliano's review sought to examine both his creative tradition and the complicated social controversies that have characterized his career. However, the request was immediately rejected by Alice Tisch and other important museum donors.

When it was discovered that the gala's day coincided with Yom HaShoah, the day of the Holocaust's patients, the controversy grew even more strong. Social figures, including Julie Menin, the president of the New York City Council and the daughter of a Holocaust victim, also wrote letters to Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, pleading for a high standard of inclusion.

The discussion draws comparisons to the events of 2011 when a picture of Galliano, who was filmed swearing anti-Semitically and expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler, was leaked in Paris. He was fired from Christian Dior for that incident. Despite the fact that the father has repeatedly expressed his repentance, the cultural wound is still present.

The architect himself announced his drawback from the project, acknowledging that he did not want to put the institution in an untenable position as a result of the escalation of controversy. The Met mandate, for its part, affirmed the tribute's standard suspension, arguing that the discomfort the incident had caused was intolerable.

With the trial being canceled, the organizers are forced to work against the clock to come up with a fresh theme, determine a potential date change, and reorganize the dark carpet's iconic placement.

The exhibition said it will soon share the specifics of the fresh night schedule.
