The tribute to singer Dolly Parton continues and one of the most important is about to come true. Nashville airport is preparing to be named after him, in recognition of his contributions to country music and the projection he has given Tennessee worldwide.

According to the Nashville Metropolitan Airport Authority, the request to incorporate the singer's name to Nashville International Airport (BNA) was approved unanimously.

Although this resolution gives green light to initiate the process, until now it has not been revealed what will be the definitive name of the establishment.

It will be the task of the airport authority and the parties involved in the proposal to determine how the name and legacy of Dolly Parton will be incorporated into the identity of the terminal that receives more than 26 million travellers a year.

The nomination was initiated by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee just days after the country star’s death was confirmed. In his letter, the president stated that representatives and members of the Parton family were in favor of the proposal and would participate in the process.

“In a place where Tennessee welcomes the world, it is very appropriate that Nashville International Airport be named after the favorite daughter of our state and welcome travellers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith and kindness,” Lee said in a statement.
