Without his famous father knowing, Mar Solís recorded the song “Invent Me”, one of the many classics of this Michoacan singer. When the song was finished, Mar went to show it. Her father’s reaction surprised her.
“He told me he wanted to accompany me in this song as the second voice,” Mar said.
And so it was as the new single of this artist includes the voice of Marco Antonio Solís “El Buki”, who was amazed with the version that made his daughter; the theme has been interpreted by figures such as Solís himself, Mon Laferte, Remy Valenzuela and Romeo Santos. Only that Mar recorded it with mariachi and at the rhythm of cumbia.
Mar says she never thought of asking her dad for that, and that when he offered to collaborate, it was natural, without forcing anything.
“[Even though he is a composer] I don’t ask him to write songs for me,” he said, “although that would be a dream and I would love it.”
Mar says that, contrary to what many people think, her father has little or no interference in her career as an interpreter. And showing that he has talent has been a tough struggle up since he decided to become a singer.
She debuted in 2022 with the release of an EP in English with her own compositions because she wanted to be recognized as a producer and with that earn the respect of those who didn’t believe in her talent. But still many continue to doubt to the point that they believe that it will never stop.
“I feel like people will always associate me [with my father] or judge me,” he said, “I think we all in this world deserve a space to be and to share who we are.”
Along with “Invéntame”, Mar is working on his debut album, which has no title or release date yet. What is a fact is the first tour of his career, which begins on October 3 at the Pacific Electric in Los Angeles and is called “Tu Tutu Tour”. It will also tour theaters in San Diego, McAllen, Dallas and Chicago.
Her presentations will mostly include themes she has written, some covers and a couple of songs from her father.
When these commitments end, all of his energy will be focused on his debut album, which he says, will arrive in “divine time.”
