Four days after the double earthquake that devastated the north-central zone of Venezuela, causing the collapse of several buildings, the actress and comedian Gaby Fleritt was found among the fatal victims. Relatives confirmed her death, along with that of her daughter and a grandson who were with her.
The artist's body was located under the rubble of Residencias Las Palmas, one of the structures that collapsed in La Guaira, the state most affected by the 7.1 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes. Both earthquakes occurred in less than a minute, which gave thousands of Venezuelans no opportunity to shelter.
Eduardo Fleritt, nephew of the actress, issued a statement on his Instagram account to confirm that Gabriela Fleritt, Andrea Laya and Mariano Ferrera did not survive.
“We want to express our most sincere gratitude to all the people who accompanied us during this tireless search: to those who shared publications, spread the information, offered a prayer and gave us words of support and hope,” reads part of the text.

Known in the artistic world as 'La Gorda Fleury', Gaby Fleritt was a Venezuelan actress, comedian and announcer who became famous for her participation in joke and sketch programs in the 90s. Among them 'Bienvenidos', 'Cheverísimo' and 'A que te Ries'.
One of the best-known episodes was that of 'Koke & Gaby', which he performed with fellow comedian Jorge Luis “Koke” Corona, who also gained fame for playing the eccentric 'Loco Hugo', in the program 'Bienvenidos'.
