Byron Donalds receives the largest individual donation for his campaign to govern Florida
There is no one who can overshadow Republican Byron Donalds and his nearly $95 million dollars raised for his campaign for governor of Florida
Byron Lowell Donalds, representative for Florida's 19th congressional district in the House of Representatives and candidate for governor of that state, received the largest individual donation for his campaign without any of the other candidates against whom he competes being able to overshadow him, at least in terms of raising money.
Ken Griffin, one of the most influential American businessmen and who can also boast of being among the main donors to the Republican Party, surprised by opening his checkbook to issue a check for $10,000,000 in support of the candidate supported by President Donald Trump as a possible replacement for Ron DeSantis, the state president who is on his way out without getting his wife Jill Casey to enter the campaign.
“Byron Donalds cares deeply about the families and communities that make Florida the best state in the nation, and I am proud to support him as our next governor,” the businessman said in a brief statement.
In this way, the largest individual contribution recorded so far towards the Florida elections was for the Friends of Byron Donalds political action committee.
With this, the African-American born in Brooklyn has already raised nearly $95 million dollars, a sum that, although it sounds bombastic, does not guarantee, at least so far, that he can become the new president of the “Sunshine State.”
Also competing in Donalds' race are Jay Collins, lieutenant governor of Florida; James Fishback, prominent investor; and Paul Renner, former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, only none of the three have economic muscle similar to that of the 47-year-old Republican.
Since last year, Donald Trump supported Byron Donalds' candidacy and that makes him even stronger as the date approaches for Florida citizens to go to vote.
“As Governor, Byron would have a BIG voice and work closely with me to advance our America First agenda.
“He will fight tirelessly to secure our border, stop immigration crime, strengthen our armed forces, protect our veterans, restore our economic power, promote American energy DOMINION, and defend our always-beleaguered Second Amendment,” said the head of the nation since February 2025 through a message published on the Truth Social platform.
Businessmen Jeff Yass, Richard Uihlein and Thomas Peterffy also support Trump's candidate.
