Jill Biden accuses the press of criticizing her husband more harshly than Donald Trump
Jill Biden is convinced that media representatives criticized her husband more harshly than Donald Trump
Jill Biden, the nation's former first lady, says the U.S. media criticized her husband more harshly than current President Donald Trump.
During the promotion of the book that will contain the memoirs of former president Joe Biden, which will be available to the public at the end of November, the former first lady was asked to comment on the media coverage that her husband received during the four years in which he governed the nation.
"If Joe had done any of the things that are happening now, he would have been harshly criticized, but it's something that just exists, it's like there's a double standard. And I don't think that's fair, nor that it has been," he said.
She then acknowledged that, both she and Joe Biden, perhaps at the time did not devote due attention to establishing a more open or close channel of communication with the press and that, most likely, was influenced by the way they were treated.
"Perhaps we could have done more to get closer to the press and be more open, so that they saw us as real people and not as mere figureheads. That is something I regret, not having been able to forge closer relationships," he stressed.
Throughout his administration, Joe Biden never mistreated any representative of the media like Donald Trump has done without any journalist daring to confront him demanding respect.
In November of last year, the New York tycoon was enraged when Catherine Lucey, a journalist from the Bloomberg agency, questioned him aboard Air Force One why he did not want to publish the files on the investigation of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, “if there was nothing incriminating” in them.
Trump interrupted her, pointed his finger at her and said, “Shut up. “Shut up, little pig.”
However, this was not an isolated incident, since in February of this year, the nation's president was rude to Kaitlan Collins, CNN correspondent, in this regard.
The reporter in question was trying to ask him a question about the publication of the files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
"You know, you're the worst reporter. No wonder. CNN doesn't have an audience for people like you.
I've known you for 10 years. I don't think I've ever seen a smile on your face. Do you know why you don't smile? Because you know that you are not telling the truth,” he emphasized.
Despite this, the media coverage of Trump's activities, far from decreasing, has increased, but without anyone daring to ask any question that could make him uncomfortable.
