Lawmakers support measures to protect voting in California
The initiatives seek to ensure voting protection in the November elections in California; Democrat Xavier Becerra participated in the event
Legislators and activists promoted measures to protect voting in California this Wednesday in Sacramento, just under three months before the general elections on November 3.
In his capacity as an advisor to the UCLA Voting Rights Project, California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra was one of the speakers at the press conference, supporting two state bills related to the Voting Rights Act.
One of them (SB 1164) generally prohibits local governments and state agencies from any action that could result in voter suppression; while the other (SB 1306) proposes expanding language access to voters with difficulties reading English.
