The United States resumed all its official activities in Michoacán this Thursday, including the necessary inspections for the export of avocado to that country, reported the US ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson.
The decision was made after the United States government evaluated the security conditions in the entity and the measures implemented by Mexican authorities to protect its personnel.
Johnson highlighted that the coordination between both governments made it possible to restore operations that had been suspended at the beginning of August.
With the resumption of phytosanitary inspections, exports of avocado produced in Michoacán to the US market can be fully resumed.
The entity is the main avocado producer in Mexico and one of the main suppliers to the United States market, so the suspension had generated concern among producers, packers and exporters.
Johnson recognized the actions undertaken by the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as the participation of the security, Defense and Agriculture authorities.
The diplomat noted that bilateral cooperation made it possible to create conditions to protect US inspectors and maintain food supply chains.
