The celebration of Yáser Asprilla after scoring with Girona cost him a sanction from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The Colombian was fined with a yellow card for lifting his shirt and showing another with the message “God has control.”
The gesture occurred during the triumph of the Girona 0-2 over the Sporting Gijón, when Asprilla scored the first goal of his team. Although the admonition did not occur during the game, the Disciplinary Committee later determined that the celebration violated the rules.
The referee recorded in the record the celebration of the Colombian footballer, who after scoring lifted up the Girona t-shirt to display a second garment with the slogan “God has control”.

The Disciplinary Committee applied Article 96 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code, which envisages as a serious fault that a footballer displays under his T-shirt any advertising, motto, legend, acronym, anagram or drawing when celebrating a goal.
The regulation stipulates that this behavior can be punished with a fine of up to 3,000 euros ($3,489 USD) and an amnesty.
According to Article 96, point 1, “the footballer who, on the occasion of having achieved a goal or for some other cause derived from the vicissitudes of the game, lifts his t-shirt and exhibits any type of advertising, motto, legend, signs, anagrams or drawings, be those that were their contents or the purpose of the action, will be sanctioned, as the author of a serious fault, with a fine in the amount of up to 3,000 euros ($3,489 dollars) and a warning, and so did the referee in the arbitral record in the section of warnings or incidents”.
In this way, the Girona will lose part of the benefit of the celebration of Asprilla, who must assume the economic sanction and the corresponding amnesty.
The Disciplinary Committee also announced other penalties corresponding to LaLiga’s fourth day.
One of the most relevant cases was that of Jorge De Frutos, player of Rayo Vallecano, who received two matches of sanction for the expulsion he suffered from the Racing of Santander.
Disciplina dismissed the allegations submitted by the Rayo to leave without effect the red card shown in the 88th minute. The arbitration record stated that the footballer left the bench to protest the referee’s decision.
The resolution recognises that De Frutos did so “ostensibly coming out of the bench screaming and gesturing repeatedly.”
The Committee also did not accept the request of Rayo Vallecano to withdraw the expulsion of Fran Pérez, who saw the red card in the 85th minute for propining a cuddle to Jorge Salinas.
The player will have to fulfill a game of suspension, considering discipline that incurred violent behavior during a game action.
The resolution adds to that of De Frutos and leaves the Madrid team with two players sanctioned after the fourth day.
The list of sanctioned in First Division also includes footballers expelled from their respective games.
Arouna Sangante, from Sevilla; Jon Martín, from Real Sociedad; and Carlos Valero, from Elche, will be lost next day after receiving direct red cards.
Getafe’s Abner Zaid was also sanctioned, who would have to meet a suspension game after being expelled for double ammonition.
In the section of the technical bodies, Iban Fagoaga, second coach of Rayo Vallecano, received a game of sanction for protesting the referee.
