This was confirmed through a press release in which Liga MX explains the reasons for authorizing Cruz Azul's change of venue to rent the stadium that hosted the 1986 World Cup in Puebla. This establishes a new chapter in the history of a team considered one of the giants of Mexican soccer, but which does not have its own stadium. The press release states that after the request submitted by Cruz Azul's management, the petition was analyzed according to Article 61 of the competition regulations, which establishes the requirements for this eventuality. What the competition regulations say: Stadium Change ARTICLE 39 (formerly 61) Official matches of the competition must be held in the stadiums registered by each Club, therefore no Club may change venue for official matches during the Season.

Unless there is a duly justified cause, the Executive Presidency of LIGA MX will authorize a Club to play one of its matches at a different venue, provided that, in the opinion of said Body, it is pertinent to authorize the change.

For a Club to request a change of Stadium, it must comply with the following established requirements:

Cruz Azul will host Atlas at the Cuauhtemoc Stadium next Tuesday

Just like during their time at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario of the Pumas UNAM, the change of venue to the Cuauhtemoc Stadium should not affect Cruz Azul in any way, as they have felt at home when playing there and fans often accompany them to this stadium in eastern Mexico.

The match corresponding to Matchday 2, in which Cruz Azul will host Atlas, already has a new venue and confirmed time. The match will be played on Wednesday, January 14th at 5:00 PM at the Estadio Cuauhtemoc, officially marking Cruz Azul's home debut in Puebla during the Clausura 2026 tournament.

In this way, Cruz Azul begins a new chapter playing at the Cuauhtemoc, aiming to maintain its competitive edge and connect with its fans in a venue that will now be key to its journey in Mexican soccer.
