The president of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaimán, pointed out that the confrontation strategy maintained by the Zuffa Boxing company towards traditional entities has begun to give way to the operational reality of the sport.

The modifications introduced to the proposed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revitalization Act by Senators Ted Cruz and Jacky Rosen allowed the rules of the game to be restructured.

The legislative proposal contemplates that the so-called Unified Boxing Organizations can collaborate with the four main regulatory entities and authorizes the coexistence of more than one monarch per category.

During a press conference organized for the presentation of the new series of TNT and DAZN broadcasts, Mauricio Sulaimán explained the impact that the first drafts of the bill had. The leader argued that the initial intentions to impose a closed system generated resistance among the promoters and the athletes themselves.

“There was a motion to modify the original Ali Law of 2001, which had an impact on promoters, boxers and organizations, and then everything was complicated by the way it was presented, with so much aggression and so much imposition,” declared the head of the organization in the meeting with the media.

In statements given to the specialized portal BoxingScene, Mauricio Sulaimán analyzed the institutional weight that the belt maintains in the promotion of the event. The leader recalled that the current champion has maintained a constant stance of support for the organization, showing off the scepter on massive platforms on North American television.

"It's a great fight. Garcia is the best ambassador of the WBC, with the belt, the cheerleaders and everything else. And Conor Benn has been asking to fight for the WBC belt for many years. They both have a great history with the WBC, and I am very proud," the manager detailed to BoxingScene when evaluating the scope of the fight.

Regarding past attempts to limit his presence at events such as the fight between Terence Crawford and Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in Las Vegas, Mauricio Sulaimán stated to the same news source that the administrative restrictions currently lack legal basis: “There should be no reason why I am not allowed to enter any ring.”
