The impact of the messages published on social networks by active athletes usually changes the perception of fans about rivalries in boxing. On this occasion, the American boxer Richardson Hitchins decided to clarify the controversy generated by his recent comments on digital platforms directed towards the Mexican Saúl Álvarez, confirming that his intention was not to detract from Canelo's legacy to the public.

The situation began when the former 140-pound monarch used his communication channels to compare himself technically with the boxer from Guadalajara.

In said publication, the American minimized Canelo Álvarez's capabilities by ensuring that he had better defensive and offensive qualities on the canvas. "I'm a Canelo fan, but I used to be a huge fan until I realized I'm a better boxer than him. But he's a top boxer!" Hitchins wrote in his first digital message.

The clarification about the joke on social networks

Given the response from the followers of the discipline, the North American athlete chose to publish a second text to clarify the direction of his previous statements.

Hitchins formally explained that his initial intention was to generate a humorous interaction on the platform and ruled out any type of personal differences with Canelo Álvarez, whom he described as one of his current sporting references.

The boxer from the United States used the same means of communication to ratify his respect for the Jalisco fighter's record in the professional divisions. “Joking aside, I was trolling Canelo,” the former monarch detailed on his X account to stop the questions against him. In the same publication, he added about the Mexican's legacy: "Canelo Álvarez is one of my favorite fighters of all time and I have nothing but respect for him and the things he has done for the sport of boxing; he is a true champion and one of the most skilled fighters of this generation."

The sporting panorama of both boxers

The restructuring of the agenda for both athletes represents the immediate focus of attention for the promotion companies that organize the summer and fall season cards.

Richardson Hitchins, who voluntarily renounced his International Boxing Federation crown after signing with the Zuffa Boxing brand, is preparing for his official debut on July 26 against the Mexican Magic Salas.

For his part, the boxer from Guadalajara maintains his training focused on recovering his position within the super middleweight classifications after his last setback in Las Vegas against Terence Crawford. The planning of Canelo Álvarez's corner establishes that his official return will take place in the month of October, the date on which he will compete for the World Boxing Council belt against Frenchman Christian Mbilli.
