Immigrant rights activists urged Los Angeles communities to mobilize following recent shootings by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, in which two men died during operations less than a week apart.

The activists' petition occurred on July 16 in south Los Angeles, where dozens of protesters gathered to demand justice for the deaths of two immigrants due to shooting by federal immigration agents in Texas and Maine.

In Los Angeles, the demonstration was called by the immigrant rights organization Unión del Barrio, along with other community organizations.
