Next Tuesday, a guy accused of drugging and sexually abusing his spouse may appear in court along with a few other people who supposedly facilitated or participated in the abuse.
The 60-year-old gentleman, who was born in Stockport, northwest England, is accused of conspiring with others to murder and drug his wife while she lay in the unconscious, according to American police in June. The test will take place in Manchester.
His name cannot be disclosed under British law to protect the anonymity of his wife, the alleged victim.
According to BBC News, the person is accused of 48 counts. He immediately denied all charges, but he afterwards admitted guilt for 15 of them. According to police resources in Grand Manchester, five of these charges include murder, three for sexual abuse, and one for sharing personal photos or videos.
The other people who will stand trial on Tuesday are accused of committing a number of crimes, including one that involves sexually abusing the target and providing drugs that would make her unconscious, thereby facilitating the abuse.
The people were between the ages of 28 and 73, according to the prosecution's statements to CBS News.
The situation has been compared to Gisèle Pelicot's, a French woman who became famous after speaking out against her ex-husband and dozens of men in a massive murder trial in 2024.
Pelicot renounced her right to be anonymous and insisted that judicial actions be made public during the four-month trial against her ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, and other 51 men accused of raping her for a decade at her request.
All men were found guilty, and Dominique was sentenced to a maximum sentence of 20 years.
