Donald Trump seems to be obsessed with having his face integrated into coins and bills
The legislative proposal to have Donald Trump's face printed on a commemorative bill could be close to approval
The announcement that Donald Trump's face will appear printed on a $250 dollar bill joins other actions aimed at turning the 79-year-old president into the main emblem of some American currencies.
Using the agenda to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, the New York magnate intends to be the leading figure in both coins and banknotes ahead of the midterm elections.
Since the end of March, the Fine Arts Commission approved the final design of a commemorative coin with Trump's image, which is also part of the aforementioned celebrations.
As part of a preliminary design, the obverse of the coin featured an image of the nation's current president wearing a suit and tie, leaning forward over what appears to be a desk.
However, the Mint announced that they will not be ready for the celebrations, since the final design has not even been approved and production could take several months.
“While the coin will be struck to celebrate the 25th anniversary on July 4, 2026, this is not the planned date for issue,” wrote April Stafford, director of the Mint's Design Management Office.
What is approved is the appearance of the president's signature on one-dollar bills, something considered unprecedented, as it will be the first time that a sitting president appears on paper bills, which will be put into circulation before July 4.
In this sense, it remains to be resolved whether the proposal to launch a $250 dollar bill with Trump's face in the center succeeds, as it would be historic both for the denomination and for the character in question.
It is noteworthy that, in 1926, as part of the activities to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the United States, then-president Calvin Coolidge placed his face on a one-dollar coin. Since then, no other active president had replicated such an action, much less on a bill in circulation.
