The projections from Decision Desk HQ, as well as those broadcast by the NBC News television network, coincide in pointing out that Burt Jones, candidate for governor of Georgia promoted by President Donald Trump, was defeated in the second round of the Republican primaries.

The data collected coincides in profiling the billionaire businessman Rick Jackson as the winner of the race where he faced Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and in this way he will advance to the general elections where he would compete against the Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms, mayor of Atlanta.

Jones' defeat represents a severe setback for the nation's leader in the face of a complicated electoral process for the conservatives.

At the time, the 47-year-old Georgian served as co-chairman of Trump's presidential campaign in Georgia and from there he derived much of the support that his candidacy had from Washington.

However, there was controversy surrounding him, as he signed Electoral College documents falsely stating that Trump had won the ballot by defeating Joe Biden in the 2020 elections.

Because, in the first round of the primaries, both Burt Jones and Rick Jackson fell short in the attempt to obtain more than half of the votes in the May vote, they were forced to measure their strength again to define a winner.

Relying on the concept of being a businessman who struggled to stand out, because at the time he had to overcome adversity, Jackson allocated $100 million of his own pocket to boost his political aspirations and unexpectedly managed to surpass Trump's candidate.

With more than 80% of the votes counted, Rick Jackson led Burt Jones with 53% to 47%.

However, the unpleasant point of the duel fought between these two conservatives is that they sued each other.

“He made his fortune recruiting for Planned Parenthood, helping doctors perform gender reassignment procedures on minors, and pocketing more than $1 billion in state contracts at the expense of Georgia taxpayers,” Jones said.

In response, Jackson sued his opponent for defamation and slander.
