This Friday, the U. S. Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) issued an alert to airlines and pilots regarding potential military operations and the dangers of GPS interference while flying over Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America.

The recommendations cover places of the southeast Pacific Ocean and the area known as Mazatlan Oceanic as well as the airport of Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and other countries. The instructions, which went into effect this Friday, did last at least until March 17 for 60 days. A potentially harmful situation could affect plane at all heights, including overflights and arrival and departure stages, according to the FAA. The FAA issued a press release stating that these disruptions are caused by probable military operations in the area and by GNSS interference, which could result in transmission jamming or spoofing, though the source was not immediately identified. While procedures continue in the area, some U. S. military aircraft perhaps run without transponders and at altitudes distinct from those in the FAA's expert. The company advises that U. S. commercial aircraft operators exercise extreme caution and follow protection guidelines when flying over the affected areas for this reason. The FAA emphasized that these methods are intended to shield airline safety and reduce any risk that may exist when aircraft enter Mexico, Central America, northern South America, and parts of the eastern Pacific.
