During Christmas week in Southern California, an intense winter storm coming from an atmospheric river and heavy rain are expected, according to the National Weather Service ( NWS ) forecast.

There is a 90 % probability that the Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo areas will experience moderate to heavy rainfall from Tuesday through at least Saturday evening, according to scientists. The winter storm will reach its highest intensity between Tuesday and Thursday, including Christmas Day, with the heaviest rainfall occurring between Tuesday night and Wednesday, according to National Weather Service ( NWS ) forecasts.
