A community hospital in South Los Angeles will receive a $32 million investment from Kaiser Permanente, which will go toward expanding its emergency department.
The Kaiser Permanente funds will go to the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Community Hospital in Willowbrook, whose officials recently said they were dealing with financial problems.
Kaiser's involvement includes a $25 million charitable donation, with the purchase and loan of a $7 million building that will provide temporary emergency room space while the hospital's Hope Emergency Center expands.
