This Wednesday, February 4, is Transportation Equity Day, and as is customary, Metro Los Angeles will offer its people free rides to celebrate the holiday of Rosa Parks, a civil rights icon, on February 4.

The company's network of trucks, trains, and bike honor the brave work of Parks, who in Montgomery, Alabama, refused to give up her seat on a public bus to a light rider in 1955. Her actions, which led to the Montgomery bus boycott, sparked the civil rights movement in the country, which culminated in the US Supreme Court's 1956 decision to declare discrimination in transit illegal.
