Homeowners and renters residing in Los Angeles County affected by the January 2025 wildfires or the sudden loss of income due to raids can apply for assistance to pay up to six months of back rent or mortgage for up to $15,000 per unit.

The Board of Supervisors approved nearly $30 million in emergency housing relief, through a motion introduced by Supervisors Lindsey Horvath and Hilda L. Solis.

“If you, your loved ones, or someone you know are worried about losing your home, I want you to know that help is available right now,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath.

“The Emergency Rental Assistance Program is open, and we encourage members of our community impacted by the fires or federal immigration measures to apply for this assistance and share this information widely,” she said.

She added that Los Angeles County is making these funds available to help families stay in their homes, recover, and move forward with stability and dignity.

This new rental assistance is in addition to measures previously implemented by the county. Earlier this year, Los Angeles County launched a $32.2 million grant program to help families affected by the Eaton and Pacific Palisades wildfires cover housing and living expenses. This new Emergency Rental Assistance Program, managed by the Department of Consumer and Public Affairs (DCBA), officially opened for applications on December 17, 2025, and is designed to help families stabilize their situation and avoid eviction during these simultaneous crises. "This program is much more than just assistance. For many, it will be a vital lifeline," said Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda Solis. “We know that our residents, especially the victims of the wildfires and those affected by immigration raids, “They are going through an incredibly difficult year,” he said.
