A joint operation by federal and state forces in the municipality of Escuinapa, Sinaloa, led to the capture of Misael Guerrero Pérez, alias “El Güero Pin”, identified by authorities as an alleged operator of the Los Chapitos faction in the southern region of the state.

During the action, Hilario Javier Martínez Gómez, former director of Public Security and Municipal Transit of Escuinapa, who, according to security reports, was allegedly part of the criminal leader's protection scheme, was also arrested.

The deployment was carried out by elements of the Mexican Army, the Secretary of the Navy, the National Guard, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the State Preventive Police, as part of an operation directed against an objective considered a priority by the authorities.

The arrest caused a violent reaction in different parts of the municipality, where road blockades, burning vehicles and armed confrontations were recorded.

Subsequently, the Sinaloa Public Security Secretariat reported that the situation was under control after the reinforcement of the presence of security corporations.

The detained former police chief occupied the Directorate of Public Security and Municipal Transit of Escuinapa until October 2025.

His capture has generated attention because, according to information released by local authorities and media, he allegedly collaborated with the security structure of “El Güero Pin.”

After the operation, the security forces seized weapons, chargers, useful cartridges, doses of fentanyl, tactical equipment and a truck with apocryphal insignia of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), which were made available to the ministerial authorities to integrate the investigation.

So far, federal authorities have not reported on the accusations against the detainees, although the investigation continues to determine the scope of the criminal cell's activities in southern Sinaloa.
