Donald Trump launched a harsh criticism against federal judge Christopher Cooper after a court decision stopped a series of changes promoted by his administration at the Kennedy Center in Washington, one of the most emblematic cultural institutions in the United States.

Through an extensive message published on social networks, Trump maintained that the magistrate acted for political reasons and affirmed that there is a conflict of interest due to the professional ties of his wife, Amy Jeffress, with Democratic figures and legal cases related to investigations that have involved the president.

Trump defends million-dollar renovation

In his message, Trump assured that the project contemplated a profound modernization of the facility, including structural work, replacement of heating and air conditioning systems, renovation of furniture and improvements in various areas of the building.

According to the president, the works sought to rescue an institution that, in his opinion, has been experiencing financial and infrastructure difficulties for years.

“It would have been a new standard of excellence,” Trump said in defending the project.

The president also maintained that the remodeling was necessary to guarantee the safety of the property and assured that the building has deterioration problems accumulated over decades.

And he did not forget to mention that the judge also asked for his name to disappear. “Take your name off the building; you have 20 days to do it,” Trump demanded, despite the fact that the board of directors, according to him, unanimously approved keeping the name.

Accusations against the judge and his entourage

Trump affirmed that the magistrate should have recused himself from the case due to the professional career of his wife, who has worked on various matters related to Democratic administrations.

The president assured that this relationship prevents him from receiving fair treatment within the judicial system and described the decision as an example of what he considers a growing politicization of the federal courts.

Without presenting new evidence, Trump linked the case to other recent court disputes related to tariffs, immigration and decisions made by his administration.

These from the president join a long list of confrontations between Trump and federal judges who have issued resolutions contrary to his policies or initiatives.

So far, Judge Christopher Cooper has not responded publicly to the accusations made by the president.
