United States and Syria destroy more than 15 ISIS weapons depots
Central Command forces in conjunction with Syrian authorities located and destroyed more than 15 ISIS weapons depots in southern Syria
In one of the most extensive joint operations with Syrian forces in recent years, the U. S. military announced the destruction of 15 sites containing weapons depots belonging to the Islamic State ( ISIS ) in southern Syria.
During a string of airstrikes and ground demolitions carried out between November 24 and November 27, US and Syrian forces identified and destroyed storage facilities throughout Rif Damashq province, according to U. S. Central Command ( CENTCOM). More than 130 cement and rockets, numerous assault rifles, machine weapons, anti-tank mines, and other materials for creating improvised explosive devices were all destroyed in the mixed activity, according to CENTCOM. Additionally, illegal substances were found and destroyed.
Admiral Brad Cooper, head of Central Command, stated that" this productive procedure ensures that the gains made against ISIS are lasting and that the organization cannot renew or trade terrorist attacks to the United States or the rest of the world. "
Three months prior to the U. S. forces ' killing of a senior ISIS chief during a floor operation in northern Syria, the operation was carried out.
The top commander, who was killed on August 19, was identified as a key figure in the ISIS criminal organization because he allegedly participated in planning strikes in Syria and Iraq.
The news comes after Donald Trump and Ahmed al-Sharaa met earlier this month in Washington, marking the first such exchanges in more than a decade.
Trump reiterated his commitment to helping Syria "achieve victory and balance" after the meeting on November 10. Previous al-Qaeda leader Sharab, who was previously subject to US restrictions, has called for the Caesar Act's total elimination of the monetary restraints.
