One of the brand's most extraordinary and emotional customization projects in recent years was a Porsche Carrera GT that was transformed to honor the mythical 917 Salzburg, the car that won Porsche's first overall victory at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This task did not start out as a marketing effort or as an show concept car, unlike other celebratory design exercises. A client with a deep connection to the brand's history wanted to capture the essence of an unique moment in motorsport and move it to one of Porsche's most radical supercars always.

Le Mans, 1970: Where Did the Myth Go?

We must go back in time to 1970 to understand the magnitude of this gift. Porsche won one of the most significant victories in its background that year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The short-tail Porsche 917, which was identified by the number 23 and adorned with Salzburg's undeniable red and white shades, was the sun.

Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood, who took the 917 to the top of the floor in the most difficult energy race in the world, were at the wheel.

That triumph not only marked Porsche's first outright victory at Le Mans, but also ushered in a golden era that cemented the brand's status as the undisputed leader in endurance racing. The car was prepared by the Porsche Alpenstraße dealership, located south of Salzburg, Austria, and its livery became an instant icon of the World Sportscar Championship. Sonderwunsch: Extreme personalisation

The Porsche Sonderwunsch system, the brand's most unique division, which specializes in restorations, traditional reinterpretations, and bespoke income, revived that legacy decades later. Victor Gomez, a collection, made the decision to convert his 2005 Porsche Carrera GT into a contemporary rendition of the 917 Salzburg.

The procedure was both comprehensive and thorough. Before the personalization, the car was totally disassembled so that a thorough restoration could be started. The classic 5. 7-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, which can produce 612 power, was reviewed and improved along with every mechanical, fundamental, and technical aspect. The Carrera GT's outdoor features a significant amount of matt black carbon fiber, creating a contemporary take on the old-fashioned exterior. This end is evident on the roof, A and B columns, side mirrors, entrance air intake, and back nozzle. The Carrera GT's unique five-spoke wheels were anodized in matte black, keeping the Porsche crest's distinctive black anodized appearance. The exterior has an Indian Red and White coloring finish that is hand-applied exclusively, finished with the recognizable number 23 and protected by a film that guarantees its long-lastingity. An inside that screams racing. The flexibility didn't just apply to the outside. The Carrera GT's interior received a dramatic and powerful treatment. The whole interior was finished in Indian Red Alcantara, including the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and center console. Yet the custom luggage set and front trunk were both made of the same material, thereby strengthening the feeling of absolute exclusivity. Additionally, matt black carbon fiber can be seen on the desk shells, air vents, and instrument panels in the interior. Porsche made the Carrera GT's seats using FIA-approved black cloth from the Porsche 918 Spyder, a fire-retardant material developed for racing, to reinforce the strong connection between racing and the racing world.

True to Porsche's idea of judgment, Porsche did not disclose how much this transformation would cost.
