The concern again hits the door of thousands of Ford owners in the United States. The company has launched two calls to review that, combined, affect about 160,000 vehicles and have something important in common: Both failures can end up affecting the propulsion capacity of the cars.

The problems, however, have completely different origins. While the larger campaign focuses on a possible fault in the electric system of the Ford Mustang, the second is related to a fault in the pistons of vehicles equipped with the 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine.

The most widespread withdrawal affects 148,663 Ford Mustang units corresponding to model years 2024, 2025 and 2026. The situation is in certain ground terminals of the electrical armor located in the engine compartment.

According to available information, these components can break down over time. The thermocollable adhesive used during its manufacture can generate curvature in the terminals and make them more vulnerable to normal vehicle vibrations.

If one or more of these connection points are broken, the car may experience a reduction or even a loss of propulsion power. There is also the possibility that other systems may be affected, including lighthouses, cleaner liquid pump, air conditioner and cooling fan.

Ford plans to replace the terminals involved with parts with an updated design.The repair will be carried out free of charge for owners of the affected units.

The second campaign involves 10,001 Ford model 2026 vehicles.In this list appear Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Ranger and Mustang, all equipped with the 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine.

The research points to a possible crack in the bond between the nickel-resistant insert, known as the Ni-Ring, and the component aluminum.

A tool used during the manufacturing process would have suffered a problem caused by a loose torch. This allowed it to intermittently hit the insert and compromise the joining of the piece.

The consequences can range from lighting failures and loss of performance to a considerable reduction in the vehicle’s ability to move in the most severe cases.

Owners may notice some signals before a major breakdown occurs, including Check Engine activation, tricks, lighting failures and unusual engine noise.

Ford had identified 22 engine failures at its production plants until August 12.In addition, there were two cases in circulation that could be related to the same problem.

The solution will be to check the vehicles to detect possible cracks in the pistons.In case of finding one affected unit, Ford will replace the long-block engine with another with the corrected components.

Owners of vehicles included in these calls for review must be attentive to the official communication from Ford. The distributor network has already received information about the campaigns and notifications to customers will be carried out in different stages.

In the case of vehicles affected by the engine problem, notifications related to the repair are scheduled for late December. As with calls to review for security reasons, necessary inspections and repairs will be free for owners.
